Precautions for cooling the chicken coop with cooling pads

In the cooling system of industrial exhaut fan cooling pad, the air cooling effect generated by the wind speed of the industrial exhaust fan can play a role in heatstroke prevention and cooling. But there is a limit to the cooling effect of simple air cooling. When the cooling effect cannot reach the ideal sensory temperature of the chicken flock, it is necessary to activate the cooling pad cooling.

Cooling pad cooling is achieved through the principle of water evaporation and heat absorption, which reduces the temperature of the air entering the chicken coop to lower the temperature inside the coop; In hot weather, under normal circumstances, hot air passing through cooling pads can cool down by 5.5-6.5 ℃, and the synergistic effect of wind cooling can reduce the chicken’s body temperature by 8 ℃. The cooling effect is related to the area, thickness, permeability, and airtightness of the cooling pad.

1. Cooling pad area

The cooling pad is installed on the air inlet of the gable and side wall of the chicken house. During installation, an external insulation ear room should be installed to increase the air inlet area and prevent cold wind from blowing the chickens.

Taking a chicken house with a stocking capacity of 10,000 as an example, the average weight of a chicken is 1.8kg/piece, the maximum ventilation volume of each chicken is 8m3/h/kg, and the total ventilation volume in the house = 10,000 birds × 1.8 kg/piece× 8m3/ h/kg=144000m3/h;

Calculated based on the pad wind speed of 1.7m/s, the cooling pad installation area of this chicken house = total ventilation volume in the house/wind speed across the pad/3600s=144000m3/h/1.7m/s/3600s=23.5m2.

2. Thickness of cooling pad

The thickness of cooling pad is generally 10-15 cm. When using a 10 cm thick water pad, the wind speed is 1.5 m/s; when using a 15 cm thick water pad, the wind speed is 1.8 m/s.

3.Cooling pad permeability
The permeability and area of the air vents of the cooling pad paper determine the cooling effect.

4. Airtightness of cooling pad
When installing the cooling pad, it must be sealed. When opening the cooling pad, the small ventilation windows on both sides must be closed to achieve the best cooling effect. The negative pressure of the chicken house is 20-25 Pa, and the wind speed through the pad is 1.5-2.0m/s. Yes, bigger is not better.
